Right now it is early January and that means everyone is usually itching to get clean and organized after the wash of holiday clutter. I recently completely revolutionized my entire craft loft and it turned out amazing!
One of the biggest keys to my success with craft organization is learning to select the right craft storage solutions so everything has a proper place. And I even took it to the next level with categorizing my craft stock, so I always know what I have for a project. Believe me, it is a HUGE money and time saver! I also took the time to use my label maker, and create some labels for you (download below), to make sure everything was marked properly and easy to find.
Craft storage means shaking out the clutter
This is the hard part for us crafters. We want to keep everything because we believe there will surely be a purpose for this item in the future. Funny part? I have had things in my craft room for 8+ years and still haven’t found a project for them. So let me give you a tip: Before you start organizing everything in your new shiny craft storage containers PLEASE clear out some clutter.
Ask yourself the following 2 questions:
- Do I currently or in the near future have any projects CLEARLY planned for this supply or item?
- How long have I been holding onto this item? Longer than a year?
If you’ve been holding onto something longer then a year, and don’t see a clear purpose, then out it goes!
If it’s something that is in good shape with lots of supply life left to it, then consider donating it. Alternatively, you can find a crafty friend or Facebook group member to swap supplies with!
And if you just can’t bring yourself to throw it out then move it to a deep storage pile. Get it out of your craft storage space and up into an attic or closet. I would encourage you to still take stock of what this item(s) is, so you can refer to it if you ever what to pull it out and use it!
I go much deeper into this concept in my 3 Day Craft Revolution Challenge so be sure to sign up!

Storage built ins and book shelves

I really desired to have a wall of builtins but that was a little out of my price range to accomplish right now. So I knew when I found these amazing storage bookshelves, that looked like a built-in, I needed to have them for my craft room storage! Not only could the shelves hold a lot, but I loved that there were cabinets at the bottom to hide some containers and other items I didn’t want to be constantly visible! {Shop here}
Another great shelving unit I love is from IKEA. This is perfect for storing any number of items! {Shop here}

A coffee table! Yes, really! Why do I use a coffee table in my craft space? Two reasons. First I can slide storage bins underneath and second it is the PERFECT height to shoot craft video or picture tutorials on at a 90-degree angle! {Shop here}

Cart & Drawer Storage

In addition to the core storage we have covered so far, you will find that you need some more versatile and movable storage units. One of my favorites is my wrapping cart from Wayfair!
Boy, do I love this thing! It stores all of my background paper for my photoshoots as well as 3 drawers full of any smaller supplies or for my case where I like to keep extra camera and computer equipment! {Shop here}

This little laundry cart is amazing for paper storage! I like to use these magazine holders for some of my paper storage and then you can stack them along this cart. Plus it has wells that will slide in and out on small spaces! {Shop here}

Another great storage cart is this craft rolling unit. You can store paper, embellishments, vinyl, cutters and more on this baby! Plus easily move it around your craft space! {Shop here}
Small Craft Storage Solutions

IKEA pegboards are AWESOME! They lift so much clutter up and off your desk. You can store small items, paint tubes, scissors, tools, ribbons and much more on these boards! I HIGHLY recommend you purchase on if you are serious about craft storage! {Shop here}

Use apothecary jars to store smaller items and embellishments. I LOVE my APOTHECARY JARS! (say that in Ross’s voice from Friends. You know, the apothecary table episode?!). But seriously they are great for small storage items that you also may way to display in your craft room! I filled mine with felt balls, pompoms that I made, small paper flowers, beads, etc. {Shop here}

On this note of jars, I also love to use some mini glass jars for really small items like sequins, pearls, etc. {Shop here}

For all those items that are too big to be stored in jars but small enough they need an organized out-of-the-way spot, I use clear drawer organizers! I use these to store my small punch cutters, glue guns, spray paint, wire, etc. {Shop here}
Declutter Your Craft Desk

Let’s be honest organization is one thing and trying to keep your desk tiny enough while creating a new project is another. Recently I discovered this tabletop wastebasket by Lots of Style that makes it so much easier to keep my workspace clutter-free when working with vinyl and paper projects.
These little table-top trash cans are also very fun to decorate! Now when I have a pile of vinyl scraps I just through them right in this trashcan to keep them from hitting the floor. If you want one of these be sure to use my coupon code for a discount! Code: ABBI30

And last but not least I always keep several different size storage bins and containers on hand to store in my closet space or under desks. These are great to store past projects in or scraps and leftovers! {Shop here}
Wow, ya’ll that was A LOT of craft storage solutions for you! Almost all of these I have purchased myself and used in my craft room renovation!
