DIY Phone Case with Cricut – How to Make Custom Phone Cases with Vinyl

I don’t know about you, but changing up my phone case has become a pretty normal thing for me. However, buying phone cases can get expensive, and they never offer any personalization! Today I am showing you how to create a DIY phone case with the help of you Cricut and some vinyl!
The possibilities of owning a Cricut are endless. From small details like a phone case to big projects like giant paper flowers – my Cricut is like a crafty superhero! If you haven’t heard of a Cricut machine before or many you have but are wondering if it’s for you, check out this post here.
On the flip-side, if you own a Cricut but are confused and overwhelmed, I can help you, too, with my Cricut Freedom Workshop or download this one-stop how-to guide for Design Space, the Cricut Confidence ebook, that will have you flying through projects in less than a week!
So about those custom DIY phone cases! They are quite simple to make and only require vinyl as your primary material for creating personalized details.

You can create any case the same way. In my example below, I used a gold glitter phone case, black textured vinyl, and transfer tape to add my custom design to the phone case.
The first step is to load your design in Design Space. Then cut and weed your image. Make sure to check the size of your case and scale the image accordingly.
Next, burnish your design onto the transfer tape. Use the Cricut scraper to rub the vinyl onto the tape from the front and back. Then lift the liner away from the transfer tape.
Center and place your image onto the phone case. Take your time to press the image down with your fingers or the Cricut scraper tool.
Carefully lift your transfer tape up, going slow and stopping anytime you need to adjust the vinyl.
As a final step, I recommend sealing the exterior of the phone case with mod podge clear acrylic sealer. Sealing the design will just help the design stay put and repel water.
There you have it! In only a few minutes, you can create custom phone cases! My leopard print and pineapple design were my favorite. Which one do you like best? Tell me below in the comments!
