Christmas Paper Star Tree Topper
It’s time for another 12 Days of Free Christmas Crafts and today we are doing a super cute DIY
Christmas paper star tree topper. I absolutely love today’s craft because it’s stylish and solves one of my biggest tree topper hurdles- store bought toppers are typically so heavy.
This DIY Christmas paper star tree topper is so lightweight and is fun and easy to make. It pairs so well with the 3D Paper Christmas Tree Ornaments and/or the Silver and Gold Paper Christmas Tree Ornaments that I have up on the website.
The Holidays are the best and I’m so excited to be sharing with you the love for this season and the joy of crafting our way through it. If you haven’t, be sure to check out the 12 Days of Free Christmas Crafts. I’ll send them straight to your inbox so you can craft your way through Christmas and be the talk of the party with all the snazzy hand-made flare!

Step 1
Begin folding each of the star points along the dotted or cutout lines.
Add a strip of glue to the inner tab that you folded and press it together.
Fold down the tabs at the open top end along the dotted lines.
Repeat with THREE (not all) of the remaining star point pieces.
Step 2
Begin connecting the star points that have been folded by gluing the folded tabs together. Add glue to one tab at a time and connect to the tab-less side of corresponding star point.
Continue this step until you have all four pieces connected.
Step 3
For the fifth point of the star go ahead and fold down the dotted line. Have everything folded, but don’t add glue yet.
While the star point is still open, begin connecting the tabs to the partially assembled star. Remember, the tab of one star point connects to the tab-less side of the corresponding star point.
Gluing the pieces together while the star point is still open makes it so much easier to get your hand in the necessary position to attach everything together.
Step 4
Add a generous amount of glue to the top third of the wooden dowel.
Thread the wooden dowel up through the bottom of the star and press it into the back inside of the star.
Now, let’s close the final seam along the edge of the star point.
Step 5
For our final step, we will create a cone with the clear plastic for the base of our star. Roll the plastic together leaving a very small opening at the tip of the cone and add a few staples to secure.
Thread onto the dowel and add some glue to the base of the star at the tip of the dowel and push the clear cone over the glue.
This Paper Christmas Tree Star Topper is the perfect addition to your Christmas Tree decorating traditions! I know you are going to love making it as much as I did!
