Everywhere I look I seem to spot one of those cute vintage-style trucks with a Christmas tree sticking out of the back. They seem to be a beloved way to decorate, so I decided, why not make a cute SVG design and figure out a way to turn it into an ornament with 3D dimension?! For this vintage Christmas truck DIY, you will need a cutting machine and a few other supplies below.

You can use this as an ornament to decorate your tree with like I do or you could use this SVG in many other countless ways like a vinyl design. If you’re looking for some classic Christmas decor then this is a great project.

On a pink backdrop lay truck pieces in shades of blue paper, black tires, small presents and a mini evergreen are all the parts needed to make a vintage Christmas truck ornament.

Step 1

Gather your supplies and get all your layers cut out in your preferred colors.

Abbi Kirsten's finger rests on the vintage Christmas truck ornament in it's early stages. The three truck pieces have been layered together and lay on a pink paper background. These parts can be cut out using a Cricut cutting machine and a free SVG file.

Step 2

Layer all your pieces together. This is pretty self-explanatory at this point. 😉

Step 3

To add the bottle brush tree bend the base at 90 degrees and use this as a place to glue the tree to the back of the truck. They should bend easily because they are typically made of wire. Press firmly till dry.

Abbi holds the bent bottle brush tree as the glue adheres to the back of the vintage Christmas truck ornament made from paper.

Optional

If desired, add some mini presents to the truck bed as well by gluing them to the backside.

Step 4

To finish the truck, and make it an ornament, create a loop from some ribbon or baker’s twine and glue it to the backside of the truck. If you are adding presents, it can be helpful to glue the twine between the present and the truck’s back.

Hang them on your tree!

Three finished vintage Christmas truck ornaments, one red and two blue, have hanging strings added to the top, and Christmas trees and wrapped presents in the truck bed. These cute holiday ornaments are made with a free SVG file.

How sweet and simple was that? I think I may use these as gift box toppers with some custom gift wrap as well! Join my community and find the free SVG for this vintage Christmas truck ornament project in my craft resource library under the holiday section.
