Today we are talking all about the Cricut EasyPress. In this comparison guide, I will help you decide what the best Cricut Easypress is for your needs. First, let’s talk about what we use heat presses for and why you may want one.

What is a heat press?

A heat press is a machine used to apply heat transfers such as iron-on vinyl, Cricut Infusible Ink, or sublimation prints onto garments and other surfaces. Heat presses allow you to use specific times and temperatures for each transfer and blank combination.

Which heat press is best for Cricut? Cricut Heat Press Comparison

There are loads of heat presses on the market so it’s no wonder so many crafters feel overwhelmed trying to decide on the best press for themselves. I am partial to the Cricut Easypress machines but there are other brands to explore. Let’s talk about the mainstream Cricut heat presses and all the different options.

Cricut EasyPress 2 – Professional heat-transfer results with an advanced ceramic-coated heat surface. A great affordable heat press. Available in 9 x 9-inch size and 12 x 10-inch size. Cricut EasyPress 3 – Everything the Easypress 2 does plus connects to the Cricut Heat™ app via Bluetooth which allows for more precision and faster results. Available in 9 x 9-inch size and 12 x 10-inch size. The EasyPress 3 is the newest model of EasyPresses.

Cricut Autopress – The Autopress (considered the best Cricut heat press) is the largest Cricut brand press at 15 in x 12 in size ceramic-coated heat plate. The Autopress is the best option for professional crafters and small business owners.

Yes. having used many Cricut EasyPress models I can say with certainty that Cricut produces an excellent heat press.

What Other Tools and accessories Do I need for my EasyPress?

When you invest in any heat press there are certain tools you may need or want to go with it. First, you will want to have a heat-safe mat like the EasyPress mat unless you opt for the Autopress which has its own heat-safe surface built-in. Additionally, you will need a weeding tool, uncoated butcher paper (for when using Infusible Ink), heat-safe tape (for sublimation), and iron-on (also known as heat transfer vinyl).

Cricut Easypress Alternatives

Let’s talk, about heat press alternatives to Cricut. There are other brands out there like HTV Front heat press which is slightly more affordable but not by much. As far as large clamshell heat presses there is also the Tusy model which is much lower than the Autopress however it does lack ease of use. I also owned HeatPress Nation’s Crafter’s Press and it’s a good alternative for a slightly lower price point.

Best Heatpress for Sublimation

So what about sublimation? Heat presses can be used not just for iron-on but also for sublimation projects. Any of the presses above can work for sublimation. The key is knowing that you will have a large enough heat press to cover the sublimated surface. For example, an EasyPress Mini isn’t the best candidate for most sublimation projects because of its small size but the larger EasyPresses and the Autopress are the most ideal.
