How to Stem a Paper Flower for Bouquets and Arrangements

Step 1

Using your 18 gauge wire bend it at one end at a 90 degree angle. You want the bend to start about an inch down from the top.

Step 2

Working the wire with your fingers, mold the wire into a circle.

Step 3

I’m using one of my leaf bases from my small paper flower collection in this photo here. Ultimately any leaf can do the job. Using a hole punch, make a hole in the center. If you are using SVG cut files you can always use your Slice tool in Cricut Design Space with a circle so you machine does this part for you. I find it just a simple to punch a quick hole. 🙂

Step 4

Grab your prepared wire stem and thread it through the center hole, pushing it all the way up to the top. By doing this you have now created a base you can add the hot glue to!

Step 5

After adding a generous amount of hot glue on top of the wire circle and surrounding leaf, press your finished flower bud on till dry. It is important that you hold it there for at least 30 seconds or it may fall off before adhered.
